- Is this legal or medical advice?
- No. billcheck is an automated document-preparation tool, not a law firm and not a medical or billing advocate. It shows you which charges on your own bill are worth questioning and drafts a letter you send as yourself. It never negotiates on your behalf and never tells you the provider “broke the law” or is “legally required” to do anything.
- Do you guarantee a reduction?
- No. We never promise a dollar outcome. We can’t know whether the hospital will correct a charge — only you and the billing department can resolve that. What we do is show you, grounded in your own bill, exactly what to question, and hand you a credible letter to send.
- Where do the flags come from?
- Every flag quotes a verbatim line from the bill you pasted. The audit is constrained in code to the line(s) it references — if a flagged charge doesn’t actually appear in your bill, it’s dropped before you ever see it. We never invent a charge, a code, a dollar amount, or a “correct” price.
- What does the free preview include?
- The number of issues we found plus the first one or two flags, each quoting a line from your bill. It’s meant to be genuinely useful — enough to judge whether the full $29 audit is worth it before you pay.
- What do I get after paying?
- A hosted audit page at billcheck.forage.bot/audits/{id}and a downloadable PDF, both containing: every flag grouped into “likely billing errors” and “worth questioning,” a plain-English explanation and the exact question to ask for each, and a send-it-yourself dispute letter addressed to the hospital billing department.
- What if I only have a summary bill?
- Errors live in the itemized lines, not the summary. Ask the hospital for a fully itemized statement with CPT/HCPCS codes — you have the right to request one — then paste that here. (Telling them “please send a fully itemized bill with procedure codes” in writing is usually enough.) The audit needs the line items to find anything.
- What do you do with my bill data?
- We use your bill text only to run the audit and draft the letter. The raw bill text is cleared from the active order record once the PDF is rendered, and inputs are purged within 30 days of delivery in any case. We never sell your data or log raw bill contents. See the privacy policy.
- Why $29?
- It’s a flat, one-shot fee — no subscription, no percentage of any savings. Bill-negotiation services typically take a cut of what they recover; billcheck doesn’t, so you keep all of any correction.
- What’s your refund policy?
- Two automatic paths from your audit page: if our pipeline flagged your audit as failed (it produced no grounded issues, or generation errored after retries) you can refund within 90 days; and if our logs show you never opened the audit after delivery you can refund within 30 days. Both run through Stripe from the audit page — no email required. Outside those paths, email billcheck@forage.botand we’ll work it out case-by-case.
- How long does delivery take?
- Usually well under a minute after checkout completes. The audit page polls automatically while the PDF is being assembled.
